DVD Players w/ USB & external harddrives-can u construct these work together to play movies straight sour harddrive?

I bought my DVD player, a pretty decent up-convert to 1080p. One article I saw is that it had a USB port. Now, I backup adjectives of my owned movies onto my computer using DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink, and with a few DVD playing programs, I can monitor the movies directly off of my computer. Is within a way that I could upload the movie files to an external hard-drive, connect it to my DVD player through the USB, and consequently simply watch adjectives of my movies off of my hard-drive?

If I can obtain this to work properly, I could realistically fit 400+ movies onto my 2TB hard-drive and just hold all of my movies, equipped for action adjectives in one little box.

Anyone know a method to do this or what I would need?

Depending on whether it would work or not, I'm commencement to think that this is the bearing of the future. :)

Answers:    yeah - you nail it... my DVD player has a USB jack and is DIVX compatible... so I rip the movies, convert them to DIVX, afterwards load them on my external knotty drive and plug that into the DVD player via the USB port. When I do that the TV screen shows a directory of what is on the firm drive. I then use the remove to move up and down the directory until I get hold of to the movie I want to watch and after hit PLAY... works perfectly! Enjoy... its the track to go!
