I've got a splitter that has 2 outs/1in i'm confused...?
Answer:
O.K. THIS MAY HELP. YOU BOUGHT YOURSELF A SPLITTER...WHAT WERE YOUR EXPECTATIONS? IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ALICIA'S ANSWER AND DIDN'T BUY THE SPLITTER, PERHAPS YOU DON'T NEED TO WORRY YOURSELF ABOUT IT.
ONE MORE EXAMPLE: TAKE THE CABLE THAT COMES OUT OF THE WALL,SCREW IT INTO "IN". GET TWO CABLES AND SCREW ONE FROM "OUT" TO YOUR TV (OR CABLE BOX) AND THE OTHER TO YOUR CABLE MODEM (INTERNET).
You can connect two telephone lines, one for your phone and one for the computer. You only need one line to the wall, though. Time to get broadband!
That's what a splitter does. It takes in one input and splits it into 2, so that's why there are 2 outputs.
The splitter makes One Feeder Become Two Feeders. That way you can hook up 2 TV's or 2 Phones, etc.
There is always one IN. That is where the source connection goes. The purpose of a splitter is to divide a signal. The OUT side goes to the appliances you want to split the signal between. Like if you have one TV cable signal coming in, you attach that to the IN side, and if you want to connect that signal to 2 TV sets, you connect each set to one of the OUT sides. Then the TV signal will go to both of your TVs.
take whatver you want to split, unplug it from you tv or phone. plug that into the IN on your splitter! now you can run that signal to 2 different sources!
