What happens if i display a 1080p image on a 1080i tv?

i have a ps3, and a 1080i tv, but the ps3 can output 1080p, therefore the question.

Answer:
Unless you have a 1080p (true hd) tv the tv will down convert the input signal (what the ps3 is giving to the tv) to what it is capable of projecting onto its screen.
Unless you have seen a true 1080p picture on a 1080p set you may not even notice the difference. Most people don't unless they are big tv watchers or techies.
for a game it will play it in 720p and blu-ray movie 1080i
it is impossible

the ps3 will just upconvert to 1080i...you will not even be able to get to 1080p
