HDTV 40" need opinion?
This is mainly for sports (although husband spends <10 hrs watching them), and regular TV (daugther's cartoons, news, etc). Personally, I worry about the plasma burnout and couldn't really tell the difference between the LCD and Plasmas for the above brands.
I've also noticed most bars I've been to have LG.
We have about $2000 for this, but of course, less $$ the better :-)
Thanks!

I agree with Peachy's answer ! I have a 42" HDTV LCD Grand Wega. The new ones like mine are Sony Bravia. The Wega and Bravia engines are an interface that gives you natural looking pictures & good resolution on both digital & HD channels. Sony got out of the Plasma & DLP technology because they knew the future was in LCD.
In this case the more $$, the better. Sony has a well deserved reputation for making quality products. You see lots of LGs around for good reason... they're cheap. If you check the features, you'll find the Sony has just about every one you could possibly want now along with ones you might use down the road. I chose a Sony because I worked on televisions since 1979 and grew to appreciate their engineering, reliability, and factory support.
When looking, get the sales person to show you a channel with some fast movement such as sports. Some cheaper LCDs have low refresh rates and present fast moving objects poorly.
As an alternative to plasma and LCD, there are some low profile HD conventional TVs on the market. They offer a better picture at around the half the price, but don't go as big as 40' though.
don´t buy one, sorry but I hate those ugly tvs.way too pricy and what´s the big deal about HD anyway?
LG and Panasonic is a decent Midline TV.
I also run and own a TV Repair shop and still do to this day
