Is a hd conversion dvd player worth it or not for a hd ready lcd toshiba monitor?
Answer:
IT CAN'T HURT, IF YOU NEED A DVD PLAYER. THEY HAVE HDMI OUTPUTS, WHICH KEEPS THE SIGNAL IN THE "DIGITAL DOMAIN" UNTIL THE LAST STAGE, REDUCING THE POSSIBILITY OF VIDEO (ANALOG) DISTORTION. NOW A DAYS MOST PLAYERS WILL HAVE HDMI OUTPUTS WHICH CONVENIENTLY CARRY THE VIDEO AND AUDIO SIGNAL.
that tv will upconvert images just one step above standerd definition... i would forget a converter and just get a blue-ray player or hd player
No, they are not worth it. Unless you need a DVD player, then go for it. If you already have a progressive DVD player, then let your HDTV do the upconverting.
All LCD, DLP and plasma TVs convert all incoming signals to the native resolution. For example, you send a 480p signal to the TV and it will upconvert to 768p. You send a 1080i signal, it will downconvert to 768p.
If you are really serious, then subscribe to HD cable and buy a BluRay DVD player. These are true HD signals, rather than pseudo-HD signals.
