What is the purpose of the elephant on the DLP TV commercials.?

I know that a elephant has a great memory, but what does that have to do with High Definition Television

Answer:
I think the absurdity of the elephant is to show that anything is possible with DLP technology. Consider the whimsical music and the rays of light coming out of the box, it seems like texas instruments is trying to give their technology a magical feeling. Whether or not that works is up to you- but I can personally say that an HD DLP is a serious contender to plasma and lcd- you get a bigger set, but better color and much better value
I think the elephant helps you remember the commercial. It made you ask why there was an elephant. You remembered. Its a hook. Worked well dont you think?
It's kinda like the cat - Hitachi commercial.you remember the BRAND of TV when someone uses an animal in the commercial..

This is the way the producers of the commercial get you to remember it..

It doesn't matter WHAT they are selling.or how they sell it.
An animal will lock that commercial into the mind...

Another thing, Commericials you HATE..you remember the BRAND. Commericials you LIKE..uhhhh, I don't know what they're selling but THAT was a Great commercial !

Advertisement Agencies put a lot of effort into seeing what works
I guess they wanted to make a BIG impression !
