I have a computer which have DVI output, but my LCD TV doesn't have DVI input, it only has HDMI. So my best choice is to connect DVI-to-HDMI. My question here is: will there be any quality loss if I if I connect from DVI to HDMI? (Compare to DVI-to-DVI directly)
Thanks all
Answer:
HDMI is actually built on the older DVI protocol. I have not observed any degradation. Of course, DVI doesn't support any audio so you'd need a separate audio chain (cable from the sound card).
I can tell you with certainty that it will work and look just fine. My Sony 42" LCD HDTV has the DVI input & the HD cable box has HDMI, so I got a DVI to HDMI " Monster Cable" on Ebay, NEW for $ 56.00 Canadian. At the store here I would have paid $ 179.00. It works fine. I bought the cable with a DVI connector on one end and the HDMI on the other, eliminating the need for the adaptor.
No.
