Ebay. I bought a 17" Philips LCD for $282 including shipping on Ebay. I didn't want anything big either. If you don't feel safe with Ebay, go to plan B.
Scout out on the Sunday paper ads, I found a 50" DLP that sold for $750 at Costco (one of a kind and open box specials were there too, all shapes all sizes), looked brand new and lasted me 2 years before the bulb blew. Make sure when you pick something out, write down the model and search forums to see what problems are known. Every TV has their ups and downs. Enjoy!
