Which is the best lcd samsung or sony?

Samsung and Sony have a joint venture that produces the glass panels for their respective LCD TVs. Essentially, the quality of the panels is the same whether it's a Samsung or Sony because Samsung manufactures them. The differences between the two brands are in some of the electronics and packaging.
Better comparison might be Samsung/Sony brands versus Sharp versus LG/Philips.
However, it all comes down to whether you like the picture.
You can't really go wrong with either Samsung or Sony.

Samsung is one of the worst companys out there, quality and support wise.
Samsung makes lowend tvs while Sony make quality High end entertainment TVs. Blowing any samsung out of the water.
Sony is a 100x better. More robust, designed better, picture quality is the best and good support, built to last.

Hitachi

Anything else is junk.

Yes the other guy info is correct Samsung and Sony is using S-LCD panel (joint) but this is only the panel the circuit board is different Sony has better image processor, in the end result their picture is better.
So I'll go with Sony.
Sony is BETTER, but Samsung does build a DARN GOOD TV!
I've worked on both TV sets, and the Sony has a better picture, and personally...I see just as many Sonys as I do Samsungs in our repair depot.
Service and Support, BOTH companys have Top-of-the-line service and support.
I like Sony's website and Technical Assistance..
Samsung just switched their Website design about 7 months ago, and it's a lot harder to do research, but the Technical Support/E-mail system just WORKS!

THAT'S what will drive your purchase..More than anything else.
Just let it be known that either TV will be WELL SUPPORTED if and when it fails..
I'm still a SONY FAN, but Samsung has my RESPECT.
