I lost my tv remote and here isn't a means of access to switch to video setting, will an xbox 360 remote work?

I bought an xbox 360 with an xbox 360 all-purpose remote. Can someone please help?

NO! If it's the remote control to your X-box 360 then it won't control something else and I know where on earth your remote control is. Elmo has it hes underneath your bed. But be careful!
