Help with my TV?
Answer:
If it is a Sony - count the number of times the light blinks. Then call a service center and explain to them what it is doing and how many times the light blinks. The tech should be able to give you a rough guesstimate of what the repair cost would be.
Before you call you may want to try what is called a hard reset. We have all our customers try this first as sometimes (not always) it can fix the problem. Just unplug the tv from the electrical outlet and let it set for a half hour. Then plug it in and try it again.
Good luck.
Hi Bianca - have you spoken to the manufacturer to see if theres a known fault with that model? People like Sony / Panasonic / Toshiba etc are always very helpful! HTH x
Hi, this also happened to my TV before. It turns on then switches off by itself then the standby button flashes on and off. In my case, it was a Sony TV. Have it checked by the company or you can use your Warranty.
If it's a Sony the TV is switching itself into what's called protected mode, i.e. a sort of standby that doesn't do any more damage to the potentially faulty part. The flashing led is a code for the engineer to indicate where the fault might be.
Switch it of at the mains for a while, then try again...
2 possibilities.
1] Your picture tube's screen control adjustment is off and needs readjustment.
2] Your TV's video output has shorted and needs replaced.
Option [1] is more likely than [2]
Call an authorized servicer for your TV, and if it's still under warranty, make a copy of the purchase receipt to get it repaired under warranty. If it's 27 inch or smaller load it into your car so you don't pay for the trip charge.
