What do i need for high defintion tv other than a tv?

Can i get this with basic cable? since i always see available in high def at the beginning of some shows.

Answer:
Available in high def means you can get it in high def only if the cable company rebroadcasts it in high def (something they don't always do) but this will be on a high def channel NOT on your basic cable. Some cable companies broadcast HI def programming unscrambled but you would need an HD tuner with QAM capabilities in order to pick up the signals.
what you need is a HD box. i have a direct tv box and i am able to get the local off air HD channels. you will need some basic antenna to be hooked up to your box.
If you have basic cable (with comcast) and purchase a HDTV with a Qam tuner it will pick up the HD channels, plus more, and there should be no need for a HD receiver.
