How do I watch cable through the VCR?

My neighbor told mr she gets more channels than me because she watches her cable through the VCR. How?

Answer:
I think your neighbor is pulling your leg. Are there ACTUALLY any channels that she gets that you don't?

But just plug the cable into your VCR and try it for yourself.
Run the cable line to the VCR and the outlet line from the VCR to the TV. Put you VCR on channel 4 ( there's a switch on the back of the unit ). Put your TV on channel 4. Now, change channels through the VCR. That's all there is to it.
both the TV and VCR have their own tuners. if you watch TV without the VCR on, you're using the TV's tuner. if you turn both on and switch the TV station to the channel you would when you watch a VHS tape (like 3 or 4), you can tune the channels on the VCR to whatever station you want that your cable provider offers. (make sure you switch the VCR remote to VCR) This is all accomplished only if the cable is plugged into the VCR "input" terminal and the VCR "output" is plugged into the TV "in".
There is an input and a output on the back of the VCR, cable(from wall) antenna goes to the input of the VCR and another coaxil cable goes to the output of the VCR to the television. But, I don't see how this works if she has basic cable and even then it has to be paid for(otherwise it's stealing from the cable co.) Cable companies give out cable boxes today to prevent this. Now, your neighbor may have a short channel television meaning she only gets so many channels and basic cable may extend over her channels and that would be the only way that she is getting the extra channels when in reality she is not. Cable theft is a crime(called theft of services.) ie, If you have a 99 channel tv and basic cable runs 125 channels and your VCR has 125 channels, you will only be getting the difference(which is only 26 extra channels) still at the basic cable rate. Or what ever rate the cable is.
