Maybe I'm looking at the wrong sites but everyone is saying you can't see 1080p on a tv unless its at least 46 inches. I enjoy a 40 in Samsung 1080p lcd and near is a big difference between 720p and 1080i/1080p. The difference is so huge that shows in 720p look approaching standard tv to me. Also 1080i looks the same as 1080p except its of late a little coarse. I think retailers and companies merely want to seller larger tvs thats why they claim it is singular useful for 46in and above.
Answers: If one sits 7 foot away from a 720p TV and a 1080p TV there will be no definite difference. This is the human eye for you. Also, brand of TV means abundantly. Sony is better than Sharp. Sharp is better than LG. LG is better than Vizio.

Some population are going to buy the best and can afford it. Some just want to return with something better than what they have for the amount they can afford. Simple economics.
