What is the "best for less" TV out there.?

I have owned a old Sony for 15 years now and it has just started not to work. Now I'm wondering if there is a better brand now than Sony or is Sony still the best. I have a limited amount of money so I'm looking for something cheap but I also want it to last for awhile.
Thank you

Answer:
You need to plan for the TV you want in 10 years. Sony is still a great brand and is on the cutting edge of technology.

Your move.
Sony is not a bad tv, but their quality has gone down a lot in the past few years. Samsung has good picture, but they are overpriced. Regardless, both are very expensive because you are paying for the name. RCA HDTVs at Wal-Mart cost very little and have nearly as good a picture as Samsung and Sony.
