Will a digital in-flight procure me a better reception on my tv than an analogue in-flight?

just bought a fresh samsung lcd tv and when watching through analogue aerial, ie not sky the picture is not greatly good

Answers:    There is no such an animal as a 'digital' mast.

Unfortuantely there is abundantly of mis-understanding and the mass media themselves don't support to clear it up. Many shops try and get you to buy a contemporary aerial by using this ploy.

Digital box broadcasts are transmitted using a series of 1 and 0 combined into a code (bit stream) which is overlaid (modulated) onto an analogue carrier white horses.
The television set is competent to resolve the digital bit stream, sort out the channels and put together it into your picture and sound.

The digital channel are transmitted using similar frequencies to the local analogue channels so your receiver 'group' will not change.

Unfortunately, a digital nouns is less knock tolerant than the equivelent analogue signal.
This means that if an analogue signal is weakend by discouraging weather or reflections your picture will only go rough or "ghost." A digital picture will in recent times go blocky for a while afterwards disappear.

This all finances that you must have a suitable signal. Sometimes this means getting a bigger satellite dish. But that's the only difference.

All digital tv receiver have a method of checking your signal strength. Get your unsullied telly and READ THE BOOK. The you can check the signal strength and quality on adjectives your Freeview channels and prefer for yourself if you need a brand new aerial or not. It may a short time ago need re-alligning if the signal strength is perfect but the signal quality is anodyne.
There's no such thing as a digital above ground, only right and bad aerials and installations. Depending where on earth you live and how good your analogue above ground is you will not need to translate. A good starting point is if you look at Ceefax does it work properly, especially does the clock work properly, every second? If it does afterwards your aerial is fitting.

In your case, plainly the transmitter you have is rubbish. get hold of a new one put up, but dont payment extra for "digital".
Don't be conned. An aerial is a piece of metal used to receive radio/Tv signals. It doesn't contemplation if the signal is analogue or digital. In high signal strength areas you could obtain a perfectly pleasing picture using a bit of wire, or a coat hanger or even a small screwdriver stuck within the aerial socket. If the signal is wishy-washy then the most sophifisticated satellite dish in the world wouldn't brand that much difference
