How do you measure a tv?

Looking to buy a tv and possibly used. How do I measure the screen size?

Answer:
The measurement is taken diagonally.. for instance, lower left corner of the screen to upper right of the screen. Don't include the cabinet.
with a ruler
you measure from the bottom left corner to the top right corner..so diagonally across.
Diagonally, upper left hand corner to lower right hand corner.
