I would close to to know what the difference between 1080i and 1080p? same item for 720 and 480..?

please inform me on this. is there really a huge difference between the two?? and please relay me: what are the disadvantages of buying an EDTV instead of a HDTV??..

Answers:    Yeah...the other two are wrong.
1080p is the highest resolution possible. The p stands for progressive which mechanism that every pixel is refreshed simultaneously. 1080i is similar within resolution to 720p. The i stands for interlaced, which means that every OTHER string of horizontal pixels is refreshed at like time. Because 720p is progressive it is better for fast moving similes like sports or gaming. 1080i is largely better for movies and slow moving images.

480i is the signal that CRT television use and that analog tv is broadcast in. 480p is the signal that DVD's and elder gaming systems utilize.

An EDTV means that the set is HDTV arranged. This means that it does not come next to an internal tuner. This also means that you will enjoy to have a digital set top cable or satellite box or an analog to digital converter for over the upper air (OTA) broadcasts. You would be better off to purchase a tube with built contained by ATSC and NTSC tuners.
1081 i is slightly sharper... not a noticable diff for me... the only mode u can get a true HD experiance if if u win a bluray dvd player.... not worth it for me ... even the HD digital chanels only run at 720 p
