Why is my TV showing my metaphors contained by black and white single?

I just bought this Olevia 26" TV. I be really excited as this is my first TV in ages... I enjoy bought this TV only to survey DVDs. I don't have cable and hold no intentions to get it. I granted I was tired of watching DVDs on my laptop, so I go out and bought it.
But now I'm really bummed out as the dummy is only within black and white. I have no clue why specifically. Olevia tells me it might be my cable which is not obedient anymore, but why would everything be perfect (audio, depiction is nice and clear, etc.) but without color?
Please back! I have a couple of video I want to watch during the expected storm planned for this weekend! Thanks in credit!

Answers:    First, you must have MIS WIRED your Video connections from your DVD player.....

LOOK AT THE COLORS on the final of the DVD player and MATCH them to the same Exact colors on your TV set....

Yellow to pale....not yellow to green....

And if you are using the GREEN one, you MUST connect the blue and the red one for the green one to work correctly....it solely provides a black and white picture without the red and blue connected......

And don't forget.....in attendance is a red and white AUDIO sound connector too.....so don't receive your REDS mixed up....

The instruction book ALWAYS helps.....
Ask Time-Warner--I have the same item happen and they still don't know after 20 visit...
