Is "HD ready" a trademark?

Or something of that nature?

Answer:
No, trademarks are when only one company can use it... like Dodge and their HEMI, for example (there are plenty of other cars that use a hemispherical combustion chamber. The concept was seen in airplane engines clear back in the thirties). Anybody can use High Definition or HD, so it is not trademarked.
I believe it is used by all tv manufacturer's. So my best guess is no or they all have permission to use it which is unlikely.
HD ready is more of a classification of the tuner rather than a trademark. HD TVs that are HD ready have a digital tuner. TVs that say HD capable may not have a digital tuner.
No. It is merely a description of the quality and compatibility of the TV set. All manufacturers are using that.
