Which is better LCD or Plasma TV's? Can someone put a rest to this mind boggling question?
Answer: - Plasma TVs are the current size champions, particularly when comparing TVs that consumers can easily purchase. LCDs are catching up in size with their developing technology, however, and may surpass Plasmas in the near future. This may be due to difficulties in producing glass large enough for larger plasmas.
- LCD TVs have the advantage of Viewing Angle, but by a small margin. Your viewing experience is not going to be ideal at 160 or 175 degree angles. LCD TVs used to have a problem in this area, primarily because LCDs were originally used as single person computer monitors.
- Plasma TVs can suffer from burn-in produced by static images. After extended periods, stationary images "burn in" and produce an after-image ghost which remains permanently on the screen. LCD don't have this problem.
- LCD TVs were originally designed for data display, and not video. Therefore refresh rates had to be improved. LCD TVs with refresh rates below 16 ms or lower (5-15 ms) show very few noticeable artifacts. LCD TVs are now available with refresh rates as low as 5ms. Slight edge to Plasma

plasma will fade away faster. two reasons are they get hot, and they are heavy. A professional has to hang it, and many want to do it themselves, so alot of them fall.
LCD's are lighter, cheaper, and easier to hang.
LCD gives a higher quality image and also lasts longer than your sstandard Plasma TV, however, I find that the High Definitions, whether it be LCD or Plasma are both outstanding.
Plasma TV's are undoubtedly the better in quality. However, they are immensely more expensive than LCD's.

I never had a plasma but I think they would take up less room and would be able to be mounted on that wall like a picture. Why don't you go for a small one for your bedroom before you decide on a larger one for the main living area?
My research says plasma "picture" is by far better, but it is still in the new "work out the kinks" stage. It is more expensive than LCD, because it is newer technology, and some reports say that plasma screens fade over time (that is one of the kinks" and it will need to be perfected.
plasma tvs have a shelflife of about 7 years before they burn out. lcds maintain the picture for so much longer. For the money, go with the lcd.
A guy I kind of know (friend of a friend) who is a manager at Best Buy told me that LCD was better.
Based on the latest comparison test between LCD and plasma, due to the fact that plasma screens have better contrast ratio, the experts picked plasma over LCD.
Having said that, most people probably don't notice the difference in the black levels. If you like what you see, you buy what you like, not because someone told you to.
The answer is: whatever you like the looks of better. There is no longer a clear advantage to either one; most differences are minor, and both can give good pictures. Go look at the sets; pick the one you like best, and don't worry about it.
I don't know, but I like my LCD and wouldn't trade it for a plasma.
the debate will continue to rage because of peoples personal preferences-so i put it down to this simple equasion-under 37" then lcd would be my choice the picture quality is better than plasma and plasma tv's do not do justice to themselves below this size-37" and over then it has to be plasma because they have the superior picture quality (especially in hd form) and there is none of the trailing and smearing apparent in the larger lcd sets-though lcd are not far behind and catching up fast in these stakes.

Plasma displays are highly reflective and will reflect any lamps, sunlight etc. that you have in the room. LCD do not reflect.
