The change applies to OVER-THE-AIR-BROADCASTS ONLY. Cable, Digital cable, broadcast HD, and satellite will not be artificial. If you are getting cable straight from the wall outlet (rather than going through a set-top box) then you will be okay, but near a catch: you may or may not lose some channel, and this will depend on whether or not your local cable provider starts moving some channels to a digital format. You're probably better bad getting a digital converter box from your cable company, at least you'll be capable of relax. If you are getting your signal via "rabbit ears" then you will any have to achieve cable or satellite or buy a digital TV.
Also note that I said "Digital TV", NOT "High-Def TV"; these are not necessarily duplicate thing. People other get confused just about that because HDTV is often surrounded by a digital format. I mentioned this because, if you end up have to buy a new TV, it's NOT true that it will enjoy to be a HDTV, it only have to be a digital TV.
From what I've read. You better upgrade your cable. If you have a Digital cable box you will still receive the exotic HD signal but picture will not be to the quality of HD TV's. I also saw a report on our local TV here and the Expert said same entry. The key is Digital cable not deep
