I have a Panasonic 47" (Model #: PT-47X54) big blind tv. I've been contemplating as to whether or not I should invest surrounded by the Blu-Ray technology, but I'm not sure if my tv would even support the benefits of Blu-Ray. Simply put, I'd like to know two things : 1) Will my Panasonic 47" (Model #: PT-47X54) be capable of utilize the advantages of Blu-Ray and 2) Is there a website where on earth potential customers can simply input their tv info. to determine Blu-Ray compatibility with their current setups?
Answers: Your model of TV is 1080i HD in place, not full 1080p HD.
Your TV is compatable and you would benefit from Blu-Ray, what I would suggest though is the same as the previous contributor, dance with the PS3 until any HD DVD or Blu-Ray becomes the dominant platform.
With the PS3 you procure the best of both worlds.
Do you have a HDTV? Its not the TV which is blue-ray compatible, its the player, you call for a blue-ray player, like the PS3
