I'm thinking of buying an LCD display t.v.?

It's a polaroid 40 inch HDTV. My g/f's dad inspected it; no dead pixels, looks well brought-up. It's been streaked down to $524. It' been on the shelf for 2 months (I know they turn them sour at night). I couldn't afford this t.v. new. Should I do it?

Answers:    Short answer is no. First of adjectives polariod tvs are made from whatever parts are vanished over from other manufactrers (mainly lg as they use lg panels and normally lg bodies) but they are made cheaply using bulk parts. Secondly if your buying from a retailer they must honor at least the standard one year manufacture warranty if they do not honor at least that regardless of the quaility of the set. Thirdly lcd panel and "bulbs" last much longer after 10000 hours on average your looking at about 60000 hours however once your blub is done its done you CANNOT REPLACE A BLUB within the flat panel. Look for another tv, possibly a 32" set new and near the warrenty.
Polaroid is a decent brand. I thought I read online somewhere that they draw from some of their panels from impossible to tell apart plant as Sony (obviously they are a better better brand though). For a 40", that doesn't seem too unpromising. You may want to find the model number and make sure that the reviews online are positive earlier making the dicision though.
