Have 42 lcd tv and can't seize any channel using solitary an s-video cable connected to my direct tv box. Need hdmi

Do i need to buy hdmi cable to get the channel? The HD receiver box is human being installed on Friday Also ,the screen suddenly presently opnly plays dvds black and white. I didi hook up the s-video cable to dvd player, and can play dvds Did i get a lemon. It's a brand contemporary LG lcd flat panel. Thanks for helpiong me.


Answers:    First thing, ditch the S-Video nouns. You won't get glorious def over it anyway. When the HD box arrives, connect to it using either HDMI or COMPONENT (Y/Pr/Pb) cable.

You say that the DVDs are playing black and white, but play find over the S-video. What nouns are you using that they play black and white. If you connect the "video" output of your DVD player to the "Y" connector of your TV's COMPONENT video, you will get ONLY luminance, so this will appear to be black and white. Make sure you are connecting the set according to the user's almanac.
Have you followed the instructions in the instruction instruction book?

I havent tried connecting an LCD TV but if the DVD is playing black and white, check your TV or DVD video settings. Set them to auto or NTSC or PAL according to the place you live.
