37 inch flat screen LG?

Hey, I just got a plasma LG 37 inch flat screen TV! And I wanted to know if anyone had some tips or advice on using the thing?! I hear it takes up a insane amount of electricity? Is this true? Also best way to clean the screen without damaging its surface?! I was told to buy this cord to improve the picture quality. Its called a HDMI ? Is this a nessary product to buy? Does it relaly make a huge diffrance in picture quality?

Answer:
Not an insane amount, just around 300 watts. So, no.
Plasma screens are pretty tough, but I would still clean as per instructions from LG. That way, if something happens, you have some recourse. Otherwise, just window cleaner sprayed on a soft, lint-free rag... preferably microfiber.
HDMI is a convenient method to insure the best possible picture AND sound. it's all digital. No other transport method can say that. Huge?? No. Convenient? Yes.

The guy with the former title has no clue. Plasmas use quite a bit more than CRT sets. I used to have to deal with non technical people a lot at Circuit City, so just ignore him. Monster cables are 85% sales hype, 15% decent cable. Any HDMI cable will work fine and you (guaranteed) will NOT see any difference between Monster and the cheap ones. Digital either works perfectly, or it doesn't work at all. I challenge anyone, including brainwashed ex-store managers, to prove me wrong. Keep in mind that my boss at Circuit City was a retired Army Captain who knew NOTHING about management or electronics. (true story)
no
Why did you buy a TV if you don't know anything? Where did you get it? Anyway, look at the electricity rating for its consumption. It should be way less than a normal tube TV so don't stress for a carbon offset with planting a tree. HDMI is for HD signal only. If you don't have HD you don't need HDMI, yes it make a significant difference. Yes Monster cable is better than other cables. Clean it with LCD TV compliant product (never spray it directly on the screen) spray it on the cloth the cleaner comes with. Monster makes that too, it works great! Never use windex.
Don't buy those monster cables. Huge waste of money.

Profits are skinny on TVs these days, so they always try to sell extra crap which have huge profits...like extended warranty, monster cables, surge protector etc.

I have an LG LCD. It came with a special cloth for the screen.

Good choice, I love my LG
Tips: Use it all the time! That's the best way to use it. Watch TV, play games, hook it to your computer, Have Fun! Insane amount of electricity: Well... because it's plasma it uses a little more than the LCD counterparts but Insane? No, not that much more than a standard tv of equivalent size. Best way to clean the screen is use whatever cleaning product you normally use on glass (the milder the better) but DO NOT SPRAY IT ON THE TV spray it on the cloth and then wipe. If you spray on the tv it can leak down and get between the screens and ruin your tv. HDMI is not really going to produce that much better of an image than component HD imputs but it does carry both video and audio in a single cable and that's convieninet, but not neccessary.
