I have satellite surrounded by 3 rooms of my house. I want to move 1 of the boxes to my garage. i have plenty coax but this is the problem. i cant get the coax to verbs thru the floor so i can connect the longer coax. can i cut coax and put a new extremity in it? while the satellite is working ...will it shock me if i cut the coating sour so i can put the other end on?
Answers: Yes, you can cut the coax. No, you won't carry a shock - the voltages are way too low. Your RG6 is the best coax, superior to RG59.
Get yourself an manly F-connector at Radio Shack and a female-female union to sign up to your extension coax cable.
Yes you can cut the coax whilst the box is plugged in,gain an "F" connector and refit,no u wont get a shock as such if u cut the coating bad, nynex, cable n wireless, ntl, mapp, avonline now a virgin medium installation engineer and trainer..jovial viewing,u wont blow a fuse, trust, done this hundreds of times and yes rg6 is superior to rg59 but over a short run like this and internally the signal loss is minimal,1db over 10m,use any.
