Depth issues? No then buy DLP projection. If yes and you play xbox etc then get LCD so you won't get burn in. DLP and LCD dont get burn in but plasma will.

I got a Vizio 42" plasma at costco for 1k and I am very happy with it. I use it for component video(DVD's) and it has a great picture.
If a plasma works, there isn't a lot to go wrong, they are filled with gas.
A LCD is brighter but has lots of little LCD's that can burn out.
For the 1st thousand hours make sure you use zoom to fill the entire screen so you don't get burn in
