Our matured 68 cm CRT TV have died and requests to be replaced - should we move about near LCD, Plasma or CRT??
We aren't eco warrior but do have a conscience - We are price concious - we consistency we may be spending a bit of money on something that will be obselete or break down in a few years....
We want to examine DVDs and VHS (yep - we are not early adopters any :) - but we are looking to purchase a DVD player with recorder near HD soon to replace VHS recording - and move VHS tape to DVD. It is also hoped the TV, or DVD recorder will have an HD tuner - We necessitate to be able to plug surrounded by the familly camcorder to view stuff, but it is not HD.
We do receive confused by the jargon but can revise some basics. Is in that an answer/solution that fits our needs and circumstances? Appreciate adjectives advise!
Answers: Here is the KEY....you said it yourself.
Family of 4 (#5 on the way)
And
We are price concious
And
We want to see DVDs and VHS.
First, with Kid #5 on the means of access, you need to AVOID LCD PANEL TVs as KIDS similar to to throw things and LCD PANEL TVs get destroyed by throwing......
Of course, a simple LEXAN peak with Velcro video attached to the front of the screen will totally Negate any possible wreck .....
If you follow this, then the LCD PANEL is a DARN GOOD CHOICE.....
But but for, then the DLP from Mitsubishi is the better choice, since kids can single scratch a $300 peak instead of destroying a $2000 LCD panel.....
As for CRT, it's overall the better choice around kids, but I really doubt you'll get a polite HD PICTURE out of it....The 30 inch Samsung sucks !!
So many discouraging CRTS and so many impossible NOISY boards, that I can't even recommend it to anybody except enemies....
Damn, gotta find some enemy....
As for Mitsubishi DLP TV sets, the price is good and sound overall, it's MORE Kid Proof and the only item you have to contract with on those is the cost of the light every 2 or 3 years....$250 per lamp.
That does tag on up over the life of the TV set, and that's why the LCD Panel TV set is in actual fact the PREFERRED TV overall.
Except with kids.....
If you capture the LCD Panel, mount it up high and hope your kid turns out to be a girl...
Girls just take scissors and "try to cut out Barney the Dinosaur"
They don't throw, they don't climb....
My Gran's CRT TV - some profound make - finally overflowing in after 23 years and I bought her ... another CRT. She's 94 within Feb and this one will take her bygone her hundredth birthday.
I have read of the problems you mentioned and I still find LCD and Plasma TV's too expensive at the moment. Often your insurance will not cover inadvertent damage to the peak as it is simply too expensive an option.
CRT's help yourself to a lot of foul language.
To give you some thought, I read that a plasma will operate continually, 24/7/365, for 3 years before it pack up. An LCD will do the same but for 5 years.
Maybe another CRT is the better route to go - so much of your money will be going on the spanking new addition to your ethnic group.
Congratulations, I wish adjectives of you well for the adjectives!
