Is it expensive to repair a TV/DVD player please?

It's a CARS TV/DVD player, 9 weeks out of guarantee. It keeps switching stale. I think it's a safekeeping device because something's overheating. It cost lb130.00 and my grandson really loves it.

Can anyone tell me whether it would be economical to enjoy it repaired please?

Answers:    A typical television repair will START at lb50 if it's a simple quirk. Don't give up - read on......

If it is single nine weeks out of guarantee then you may still rights to a free (or at smallest part-funded) repair under the Sale of Goods Act.

This clearly states that right must be of Merchantable Quality and Fit For Purpose.

In practice this means that the courts will hold that a box set should last more than 1 year even if it be "only" lb130.

You must go final to where you bought it, near proof of purchase (receipt or credit card slip/statement or whatever) and demand your rights beneath the Act. It's amazing how quickly shop manager back down when you confront them beside the Act.

Also, some shops will try to make you contact the entrepreneur directly. That is not the case contained by law. Your contract of mart was beside the dealer not the initiator. Therefore the shop cannot abrogate their responsibility. They can be very heavily fined if they try.

Follow the Link below and print out a copy of the guidance proceedings on the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. Take it with you to the shop.
You should construct a point of memorising the FAQ numbers 8 and 9 and quoting it them.

Further advice will be available from your local Citizens Advice Bureau (check Yellow Pages) if you necessitate it.

You have consumer rights enshirned within Law and it makes my blood boil when shops try to fob you stale. They rely on customers shrugging their shoulders and walking off. Don't tolerate them get away near selling you boxes that fail as soon as the guarantee expires.
You must be prepared to stand up the administration and not cave surrounded by. You should get a usual resolution on the spot.

That is, don't let them fob you rotten with "the manager's not here, come stern next week". It will be whoever is contained by charge of the shop at the time of your visit that have to deal near you.
It may help if you thieve your grandchild (and his friends) with you when you complain. Make sure that enjoy lots of stick sweets and chokkies (honest. shopkeepers hate loud kids and will be more inclined to deal beside you instead of keeping you waiting).

Any small claims court will hold that a television should closing at least 5 years.

Experience:
Lots, but the most recent be I bought a dud item from Marks and Spencer (yes, really!) and waved my copy of the deed in front of them and get my money back. This is your rights as a consumer.
you can ask but it will probably be as cheap to buy a different one
its the way of the world in our time
