Is my TV Remote Sensor bad?

I have a 5 year old Toshiba 32" CRT and can't figure out why my remote controls suddently stopped working. I have tried a few different ones. Not sure if the sensor is bad on the TV or if it could be something simple. Yes I have cleaned the sensor.

Try this first with a digital camera on like if taking a picture point to remote and press the buttons if you see the light from the remote is for sure the sensor on the TV. With parts and labor it shouldn't more that $75
You can use a camcorder to see if the remote is sending an infrared signal to the TV.
Point to remote into the lens of the camcorder and press a button. You should see a flash of light in the camcorders view screen.
Have you tried changing the baterries
