Toshiba 50WT29B?

I have a toshiba 50WT29B, it have a 9pin serial on the back of it, is it possible to use a 9pin to 16pin serial adapter, as my computer simply has a 16pin feminine serial port on it??

someone please help near this as i cannot get onto the toshiba website as it crashes IE everytime i stir on there
