I bought a universal remote but it won't do the setup on the tv like to set channels and go to inputs.?

I tried several codes

Answer:
that's the thing the s8cks about a universal remote control. they are set up to try and program all tvs but sometimes falls short of all the features that the tv is capable of. you maybe able to change channels, turn the volume up or down, or to turn it off or on, put the advanced programming maybe lacking. try to set these controls by using the keys on the front of the tv or get a remote (very expensive) from radio shack, i forgot the name
when i looked at the price, but it is suppose to be able to program anything. just a note also, i have gone to the goodwill store, or the salvation army store and have found remotes to replace the ones that have mysteriously disappeared.
