Will a comcast digital box that I found work beside my "Expanded Basic" service?

I've just found a Comcast branded Motorola DCT2524/1612 digital cable box outside of my apartment complex. My current service right in a minute is Expanded Basic, no cable box, coax straight from wall to tv. Hooked the box up to my service and tv to see if it worked, and it gets channel in 100s-900s, music, guide guide (show info and times)....all that jazz.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is...is this right? Should it work resembling this? Expanded Basic gets you up to canal 100 but not any farther. Any suggestions? If I hang on to it hooked up, do you think they'll alter my service over to a digital package automatically and start charging more?

Answers:    The box be active contained by the system when you "found" it and once the person reports it missing or doesn't repay there bill and its still registered on the meet people its gonna get shut past its sell-by date. If they wanted to through a process of expulsion they could find out exactly what line its connected to of late to let you know. Cable systems are 2 means of access nowadays.
Comcast have done away with expanded original service. It's all one glowing charge right now. I wouldn't read aloud anything, maybe it will work fine and finishing a long time.
