The television is a Sony KDS 50A2000..When a hi-def picture or any picture for that concern is on, the top and bottom of the picture is cut off. I enjoy tried checking all the settings contained by the picture menu and I cant seem to find it. Any minister to would be great. Could it be a setting in my cable box,which is cablevision.

If you have cable or satellite the aspect may be controlled by the set-top box itself, so check the remote of your set-top.
try varying your aspect ratio to 16:9 on your tv settings. or on your cablebox check the settings and see if you can change the peak size from zoom to stretched
