I have a Mitsubishi 50" projection TV (about 11 years old) with a normally fantastic picture.?

About 6 months ago the picture (on the sides), started to move in and out bout 6" or so. It intermits, and sometimes emits a high pitch sound at the same time. I know I am due for a new TV but I would also like to keep using this one. Any idea as to what can be wrong?

Answer:
It sounds like you a capacitor in the convergence circuit in going bad. After that many years it's not unlikely that other high voltage caps will start to get leaky as well.
It's a pretty easy fix if you know what your doing, but i wouldn't suggest trying it your self. TVs hold high voltage in them even when they are unplugged. 10,000 volts or more. A repair could be $150 or more.
But if your feeling adventurous, and if you can solder. go in and replace ant capacitor that has a 250volt range and higher!
Good luck!
11 years old Id say she had a good run time to retire her for a new one :)
Could be a broken joint somewhere. I think you should get it checked out b4 it does damage.

Mitsubishi is known for there longest lasting tubes.
