Direct TV problem?
Ideas? Thank you.
Answers: I would try to reset it. There might be instructions for a "soft reset" contained by which you hold down some buttons on the box for a few seconds within the manual. You can unplug it for a flawless 15 - 30 seconds and see if that does the trick. On my DISHnetwork beneficiary I can run a "check switch" test contained by the installation menu and that will force a download of the program guide and any new software updates. If you enjoy any options close to that, try it after a reset.
UNPLUG the AC cord on your Direct Tv box for 5 minutes....
Plug it in and consent to it download after you turn it on again.
Take the remote out of the room or place it in a drawer so it can't dispatch signals to your box....
Watch what happens when the downloading finishes.
IF THE BOX STILL DISPLAYS THE MENU later access the main menu, and CHECK adjectives your settings in regard to the Display / Menu / Guide functions. It may be you have a setting that ALWAYS displays the guide....
And your GUIDE BUTTON may be set incorrectly too....
Sometimes you push it, and push it and push it, and you run out up with the Guide "Always ON".....Keep pushing it until it certainly turns OFF.
NOW...if it disappears instead, and the MOMENT you pull out the REMOTE from the drawer or the other room the display pops final up, YOU HAVE A STUCK BUTTON ON YOUR REMOTE !! And it's likely the Guide button is stuck!
If it's STICKY...catch a toothbrush and spray it with Windex and scrub the outer point of the Guide button to remove soil, then with alacrity wipe it dry with a tabloid towel. That button should RETRACT fully when released.
Alcohol might be a BETTER choice around buttons, but Windex removes FINGER OILS and Soda Pop sugars that BIND buttons down....
IF neither one works for you, it's time to get another remote or box....
