How come my suround sound doesnt work on my new t.v!?

its a 37 in LCD HDTV! it works for movies but not for t.v! its a philips flat panel HDTV w/ambi lights to be more specific!

Answer:
Some tv channels do not include surround sound in their programming.

When you watch DVD movies, the sound goes directly to your Surround sound tuner by way of 1. a digital cable, 2. an optical cable, 3. standard RCA type cables. You may need to add another cable from your TV or CABLE or SATELITE box to your tuner.

If there is a seperate cable, then you need to change the input on the tuner with the remote to the correct channel.

There are about 50 other possible reasons, but without knowing what tuner you have and how you have your system connected, the above answers are the best that I can give you.
The surround sound only works if the programme you are watching is being broadcasted in that format. Try pressing the nicam to stereo button on the remote control.
