What is your opinion of Visio brand LCD tv's?
Answer:
I had a friend who got one for Christmas last year. He was able to use it for about 10 minutes before it went out. Took it back to the store and got a replacement, but it made me wonder about the quality.
I'm not sure what the warranty is on the vizio, but I'd make darn sure it was decent.
I am not familiar with Visio (or might be Vizio) but off brand tv's usually don't last long, even though they look better than the name brand ones...I learned from the past, I purchased an off brand, last only three months...
I could be wrong though, it could be a great tv...
I'd stay away from off-brand tvs. The money you save is usually MORE than offset by repair costs and general frustration.
Once out of warranty, no parts or support. Most off brand tvs break out of warranty including Samsungs and Phillips/magnavox.
Sony has the best picture and support.
i own one i have had no problems for the money it a real good buy look at the reviews on cnet.com
Vizio is a new brand name and has positioned itself as a value leader. Little is known about their reliability, so in exchange for your bargain you are taking a chance on the long-term. They originally made their name with bargain plasma sets and have now moved into LCDs as well.
Functionally they are very good for the money. The CNET review referenced gives some idea about where the compromises lie.
Your question should be: How well is this set warranted, and if the warranty has expired, can I still get repairs performed? The answer in this case is: in warranty OK, out of warranty: goodnight, you're on your own! Sony, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, or Toshiba for good customer service and back up after the warranty expires.
