My TV is 720p even so my PS3 detects it at 1080p. Is it really displaying at 720p or 1080p?
I infer the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 37" is undetectable by the human eye (or very close to it) so it really doesn't generate too much difference, but I suppose my main request for information is this.
What happens if my PS3 plays a 1080p movie or team game on a set that is merely 720p/1080i? Will the TV auto-convert it to 1080i or 720p? Or will it try to display it at 1080p? I downloaded 2 movie trailers of the same movie - one at 720p and one at 1080p and could not report the difference.
Thoughts?

Answers: I have a sneaking suspicion that your PS3 would detect ANY TV as 1080P....
It's just looking for a TV set, nil more....and most likely your OLEVIA have some parts used on their 1080P models, so MAYBE those parts are FOOLING your PS-3....
It is cheaper to keep a business line running, fairly than stopping it, re-tooling it, and getting DIFFERENT parts.....it's better to just transformation the board ...
it is showing a 720P depiction of 1080P. Which is worse than if you simply go to settings and select 720P.
