What is the absolute contrast ratio for a 37" LCD TV?

I want to buy a 37" LCD TV, but I want to know what is the highest contrast ratio that I can find within a 37" TV with 1080 (i) or (p).

Thanks.

Answers:    Sorry to the end poster, but I completely disagree. Anything sitting in the 2000-3000:1 collection for a contrast ratio is absolutely vile.

Anything with devout contrast ratio at that level is sitting at 10,000:1. In most cases you'll find between 6000:1 and 8500:1. Something next to a 1080i will be at 6000 vs a 1080p sitting around 8500:1. Anything like that can be between $1,200-1,600.

If you can fit a 40" tv everywhere its going to be located I HIGHLY recommend it. We have a Samsung at a 25,000:1 contrast ratio, 120 gHz processor, at 1080p for lone $1,999.

There aren't a ton of quality 37" tvs out at hand (besides sharp). You'd be looking at Vizio's, Olevia's, and Sylvannia's...which you will see around a 3,000:1 contrast ratio at the very hugely best (lower end, looks similar to crap).
Well there's two FORMs of contrast ratio....
Since you want a 37 inch LCD Panel you want the Contrast ratio to exceed 1000 : 1 in it's intrinsic form...not dynamic....

So as long as you see a contrast ratio that can exceed 1000 to 1 you'll hold a nice picture.

MOST presently do 2000 :1 and you can get some that are 3000 to 1 on LCD panel.

But do NOT EXPECT numbers like 15000 : 1 as those are for LCD projectors and DLPs that enjoy DYNAMIC Contrast circuits that use IRIS motors to enhance the ratio....Those are NOT REQUIRED when you're staring directly at the source of video....and that's your LCD PANEL we're talking in the region of.....

SO.....in YOUR situation....1000 : 1 is fitting, 2000 : 1 is great and if you find something with a 3000 : 1 it's around the best you'll find without some form of sacrifice..

I presently am using a 2ms response time, 3000 : 1 contrast ratio near 300 cd/m^2 brightness level....That is pretty much top smudge ratings...But the drawback is you can actually see ringing contained by the Black to white transitions...So, I have to turn down the sharpness to take home the ringing disappear...
Which obviously softens the entire picture...So HD have lesser detail...But the detail is SO excessive that it probably falls surrounded by line near all the other unit....

In the REAL WORLD.....Look at and compare the pictures side by side....
