Digital TV...strange things happening, can anyone help?
The first box thing I bought from Asda was a cheap and nasty Duraband item, this would lock up in the middle of programs, constanly have to be retuned and you had to reset the thing everyday as it would lock up.
I reurned it and bought a Phillips one, twice the price and it went well for the first few months, now that box has started to lose BBC1 and 2 at random intervals, lock up, break up etc.
We live in a good reception area, good ariel that has been checked and have a good signal, are these just the pitfalls of free digital TV?
Answer:
i've not had any probs with mine i have 3 freeview boxes i use inside aerials the ones that run on electric .
it could be outside factors maybe higher buildings or trees all that would be advised is putting aerial higher if not on roof already,
Is the box kept constantly on or overheating .
make sure nothing is covering the vents on the freeview box and turn of at night that might help if you ahven't been doing it already.
my digi box does break up as well which can be really annoying but it seems when I'm using something else electrical in the house it breaks up more e.g. hair dryers our channels sometimes say "no signal" and won't come on but after about 30 seconds it will load.
i don't know whether yours is the same but i hoped i may have helped a bit.
I have a cheap and nasty Sagem box £20 from Argos, it runs from an indoor Aeriel in the loft through a USB TV adaptor on my computer. I have no trouble except in bad weather conditions. An electrical storm etc when I do get some break up. It's odd that the BBC channels vanish , as they have the strongest signal in my area. It does sound ad though you may have been unlucky and got two duff boxes. Sorry I can't be more help.
