Directv Versus Dish?
So please say what your experience has been and how much you are paying(which plan do you have and do you have a dvr)
To summarize:
1. Monthly payment, plan?
2. Ease of use of the DVR
3. How many channels do you get, are you getting any premium channels(e.g. HBO, cinemax)
4. How much are taxes on top of the monthly service?

I've had Dish for several years now. I've had no complaints. The only negative is the pricing for the HD channels and HD/DVR reciever. If you are a new customer you can get the HD/DVR reciever free from Dish, Direct tv will not give it to you for free. Direct Tv will give you a DVR reciever or HD reciever free, but not the combo HD/DVR reciever. Me already being a custome have to pay $100, which I think is totally unfair. HD programming is not cheap, and the channels they provide I think I would only watch about 3-4. They are extending the HD channels but no one can tell me when or how many they will offer in the future. Also, check to see if they offer your locals in HD, mine are offered in SD, but not HD, and once again they can not tell me when they will offer them to me. Go online check the prices, I think Dish will have cheaper startup cost if you want the HD/DVR reciever for two rooms. Hope this helps.
I've had Directv for 9 years and can recommend their services. A couple of new satellites are about to go operational and provide more channels shortly. I have high definition service to two TVs and standard to two others. The DVR is simple.. you can either record 2 programs or watch 1 and record the other simultaneously. I receive all channels including all Premium channels but not some of the sports options. Taxes are not a consideration here in California. I recommend that you insure you receivers. All information including costs are available on-line.
I have had both DirecTV and Dish and each has its pros and cons. Pricing is very similar. I personally prefer the DirecTV DVR over the DVR by Dish. There are so many advantages, I can't even think of all or name them here.
