1080P,1080i, 720p,?

I guess my question is what it adjectives means and if one leeway is far better then the others.

IF IT HELPS.

I be going to purchase a samsung 720p rear projections DLP tv. I basically want to make sure i dont involve to try and get a 1080p or 1080i. My cable company is comcast and i dont hold a lot of channel primarily baisc cable, espn, disney, usa, tbs, etc. The main defence im buying this is for my xbox 360, and i do not plan on usng blu ray or hd dvd players anytime soon.

Answers:    If you're going for a set larger than 50in, dance for 1080p if you want the highest resolution picture.

If you're going for a set smaller than 50in, shift for 720p because at those screen sizes you'd hold to sit much closer than Optimal Viewing Distance (you'd have to sit closer than 5 foot for most major peak sizes) to notice a difference between 1080p and 720p.

If you do sit that close, 1080p may be better.

Note also that contrast is one of the most big factors within determining perceived sharpness.

Hope this helps!
I muse the difference is so little you wouldn't notice anyway. Don't quote me but i expect the x box can only do 720 through the component out so the 1080 would be useless anyway
