TV Ariel signal strength problem near freeview, direction and back needed formerly i stir wacky?

We have freeview and are have a real problem near signal strength, picture on most channels shows 50% strength, but on others the signal drops and rises at randem from 70% to 0% and drives us silly, i have purchased a illustrious gain ariel but think the problem may be directional, have looked at all the houses close, ariels are all over the place giving no local direction to point the ariel, so what is the best bearing to locate the optimum signal strength, and feed that signal to up to 4 tv's, aid before i be in motion mad and verbs whats left of my tresses out.

Answers:    Some people enjoy been artificial by "Advertiser's Puff". There is NO SUCH THING as a Digital Aerial. This is just something that some above ground installers say to trade more aerials. You already have a High Gain one, and that is to say what you need (if it's the right Group or broadband).

First: is your downlead split to nurture your telly's using a "passive" (unpowered) splitter? If it is then you could be suffering from reflection within the diverse branches of your cables. Try basically using a single unbroken lead down to one tube and see what happens.

The in-flight will be optimised to feed a 75 ohm nouns and that can only be met by have a single lead (without branches) to a single addressee.
Splitting the cable causes conditions that can not individual reduce signal strength but also result in distortions which affect digital signals more than analogue ones.

Second: look up your nearest transmitter. Use the link below to the BBC site for information. Note that you may be contained by a 'fringe' area and own to use one of their Repeater transmitters.
Check that you have the correct transmitter group for that transmitter.

Ascertain the bearing of your house to the transmitter and consequently you can use an ordinary compass to check that your transmitter is pointing in the right direction.

If you own high buildings, trees or building works within the way after you will have to find your subsequent best transmitter. If your neighbours' are pointing all over the place consequently it's possible that they have have similar experiences.

Third: don't waste money on a 'booster amplifier'. If your initial signal is crap afterwards that won't make any difference.

Fourth: once you own got a apposite signal with your single tube then you should use a powered splitter to nurture your other receivers. Get one from B&Q or Maplin.

If that doesn't work later get within an installer and ask him to use your existing aerial (to free buying a new one). He'll align it using a paddock strength meter (cast about lb500 so don't be in motion buying one yourself). He'll charge about lb100 but at lowest you'll have a pious working system with a guarantee.
You do call for a proper Digital Ariel.Always better to consult a registered fitter for this the cost around lb70.It is a difficult job minus their expert help. You cannot even use the house subsequent door as a marker. But even so you may entail an amplifier.it is worth the cost in the run out.
