What is best? LCD, PLASMA, OR DLP?
Answer:
It truly depends on your situation:
DLP: Advantages: More TV for your money. Drawbacks: Requires bulb to be replaced every 2-4 years (around $300 each). Can't be hung on a wall.
Many rumors surrounding flat panels (plasma and LCD) simply are not true. Don't worry about screen burn in and don't worry about having to "recharge" your TV. Burn in was a problem many years ago but it has since gotten 100% better.
Plasma: Advantages: No bulbs, Typically have better contrast than LCDs (but it dependso n your eyes, everyone is different), Cost less than flat panel LCDs. Drawbacks: Glass screen can cause much glare. Not affordable if you want 1080P, potential for pixels getting burned out.
LCD: Advantages: Have the best viewing angles (but who really watches TV at a 178 degree angle?), more affordable than Plasma if you want 1080P. Drawbacks: Cost much more (as much as double) for a comparable model in Plasma, potential for pixels getting burned out, some people can see fuzzy motion during fast action.
As for brands, stick with Pioneer (if you have the money and want the best), Samsung, Mitsubishi. Avoid Sony... you'll pay too much for the name.
I recommend replacing it. Put that money towards a new TV and you'll be very happy with the result. If money is an issue, check out financing offers that are out there. You can always find 12 months without interest (but pay it off in that 12 months or it all accrues back on you). As for entertainment shelves, get whatever you want. Try to mount if you get flat panel; it looks amazing!
A plasma will give you the best picture with minimal loss off camber. LCD is the brightest with no loss off camber.
DPL, make sure you purchase a maintenance agreement with the tv, it'll cover everything from A-Z.
DLP 1080p No burn in (Plasma) no lost pixels (LCD)
Just be sure you get one with the high intensity white LEDs as back light, or even better the laser one.
A picture like a photograph, with no visible pixelization.
I'd say DLP would be your best bet, if your looking for the best picture quality & clarity possible. The color is amazing, and DLP comes in many flavors, including Front and Rear projection.
I'd say LCD wins on Plasma for sure.
DLP!! Don't like it.
lcd for colors and plasma for blacks but i had go with lcd . go with samsung , sony is a name of gaystation 3
LCD
LCD-60,000 Life Span
PLASMA-60,000 Life Span
DLP- Bulp that burns out 2-4 years. BUT Picture NEVER degrades. Pop in a new bulb, it will look brand new.
Or Get a Bulbless DLP, Mitsubishi Makes one that uses Lasers ( uses less power, but has a more color spectrum than LEDS and Bulbs)
Id get a bulbless DLP from Mitsubishi, or a Sony LCD.
Sony
Toshiba
Mitsubishi
Pioneer Elite
Hitachi
are the best brand out there, anything else makes junk.
DO NOT Get a new one, let it die and get a new one, my husband is addicted to ours, I no longer have a nice husband...
