Even though i don't have a 1080p hdtv(i have a 1080i), will an hdmi cable make the picture quality...

if an hddvd player better than using composite cables or will it look the same?

Answer:
YES! I think those that answered are confused with composite vs component. There is usually a minor improvement from Component to HDMI, but a HUGE different in Composite vs HDMI.

HDMI gives both digital video and digital audio, composite is analog. Composite is almost at the absolute bottom on the quality list. GET HDMI cables, they are CHEAP...just make sure they are HDMI certified.
It will only make a slight difference, making the picture a bit better. Getting a 1080P HDTV is a must, 1080i is somewhat a waste of money from my opinion if your looking for picture quality.
You don't specify your TV's size.
The smaller the TV, the smaller the impact.
Most people have a hard time seeing the difference between component and hdmi, so I would not worry that much.
no it would not , i have an 1080p tv and they all looks the same either compoment or hdmi
