What is the difference between hdtv and reg tv?

when i went to purchase new tv. there are hdtv. and s something tvs. i know hdtv is clearer.

There are SD (Standard Definition) 4:3 Screen TVs that allow you to recieve the new Digital Signals but it wont be in HD because it downconverts to its native res. SD is also cheaper than HDTV.

True HDTV is like looking out a window. A good quality TV should make your jaw drop.
