cable into another tv and it worked. It's some connection w/in the tv itself. Is this something we can replace or is it worth having it repaired? Anyone else ever have this problem?

none of the channels work? smack it on the side, see if anything shows up (while in tuner mode). If you see any flickering sort or display when you smack it, then you just have bad solder connections.
have you tried contacting your cable company and getting them to come look? if it is the tv you would probably be better off just purchasing a new tv... its much cheaper then repairing it.. unless it is a big screen or something...
