HD geared up....................?

Okay i saw two HDTvs in the shop, both of them be Sony Bravias but the first one was 40 inch and have a label which said FullHD 1080p. The second one be 46inch and it had a sign which said 1080p and HD ready. Now i be told that the difference between a Full HD and HD ready tv is that a HD Ready Tv does not own a HD tuner.

1.Now can someone tell me what an HD tuner is?
2. Even though the 2nd tv is not Full HD will it know how to display pictures at 1080p with like quality as the Full HD one?

Answers:    HD Ready way you cannot simply attach an antenna and scan for free HD broadcast channels. There is no built-in tuner.

You can buy a external $125 tuner and plug an antenna contained by one side and your TV to the other if you want free broadcast HD channels. Thats the with the sole purpose compromise for the 46 inch TV.

You can hook up HD-DVD, BluRay, HD Cable box, HD Sat box to both of those TV's and they will both display full-rez 1080p.
When a tv has an hd tuner it process the TV will be able to put out soaring definition picture without requiring you to buy an hd tuner box. It take the hassle out of the tv when its hd built in. However both tv's are full hd 1080p, so within will be no difference in the picture.
